“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” – Coretta Scott King
What a Weekend to Remember! As the snow settles on Mitford Ponds, we’re left feeling nothing short of amazed. A heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every one of you who played a part in making this year’s Kimmett Cup Weekend a record-breaker, a heart-warmer, and a community highlight in honour of Dr. Lindsay Kimmett.
By the Numbers:
– A staggering 46 teams and over 400 players took to the ice, each one of you bringing energy, talent, and spirit.
– Generosity overflowed with 130 local sponsors stepping up (check them out here) – your support fuels our mission and community.
– More than 70 volunteers, the unsung heroes, your dedication is the backbone of our success.
– Together, we’ve raised over $150,000 (and still counting!) for local charities (Helping Hands Society Cochrane, Helping Families Handle Cancer, and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation) a testament to the incredible impact we can make when we come together.
The magic of the weekend was captured in a Recap Video by Cochrane HS Creator Studios (Check it out HERE) and the insightful interview with Calgary Flames Alumni Raymond, Sarich, and Krahn by 10 year old Cameron Rothery (Watch it HERE) offered a glimpse into the passion and camaraderie that define the Kimmett Cup.
Results to Celebrate:
– “We Are Family,” in a triumphant 15th attempt with Flames Alum Mason Raymond, finally clinched the Big Trophy!
– “The Cochrane Cruisers”, with their 2nd place finish for the 3rd consecutive year!
– The Inaugural Pickering Prize was awarded to Gavin Wade, Eli Torrie, and Carter Eckert. Your remarkable fundraising efforts truly embody the spirit of Paige Pickering, reflecting resilience, kindness, and a commitment to the service of others. Congratulations!
– And let’s hear it for “Downtown Dangle Show”, champions of the inaugural U18 division, setting the bar high for future young stars!
Mark your calendars: Kimmett Cup 2025 is set for Friday February 7th and Saturday February 8th, 2025.
